SH Standards

  • Style: Google Shell Style Guide.
  • Tooling: shfmt, shellcheck, Bats for testing.
  • Safety: Start scripts with set -euo pipefail.
  • Idioms: Double-quote all variable expansions to prevent word splitting. Use $() instead of backticks.
  • Scoping: Use local for variables inside functions.
  • Cleanup: Use trap for cleanup tasks on exit or error.
